This conversation occurred last night between me and my cousin Brandon regarding a guy Brand knows.
Me: I think I know who he is. Gray hair, about my age or a little older?
Brand: No. He's an older gentleman, about 50 or 60.
Me: Brand, I'm 55.
Brand: Oh yeah. I forgot I'm 33.

Kathleen Woodiwiss
When I first started reading romances, it was in the 70's. My cousin Sue convinced me that romances were no longer sweet Harlequins, but lusty bawdy sweeping sagas (did I mention hot with lots of sex--hey, this was the 70's it was a big deal then). Anyway the first ones I read were Rosemary Rogers and Kathleen Woodiwiss.
Ms Woodiwiss passed away Friday. It has been many years since I've read one of her novels. But she was a true pioneer in the field and her impact will never been forgotten.

I am the queen of procrastination. I have to have everything perfect before I start. I've vasilated (sp?) if I want 3rd or 1st person POV. I've sweated over the hook. On and on. On Alison Kent's blog, she has a challenge, a book in 70 days. I ain't that stupid to swear to do 6 pages a day. But:
1) I've decided I want this in 1st person, Kyle's POV. A lot of people don't like 1st person and I might change it. But I don't want in Alex's head. At least not at first. We'll see how it goes.
2) Most importantly, the HOOK! It came to me out of the blue tonight as I was eating a Weight Watcher's Lasagna Florentine frozen dinner (no relevance as to the hook, just the timing). Ta da! "It all began with the necklace."
And why in the heck won't blogger let me title this post?

Purses, Canada Day and What Happened to Half the Year?
First of all, Happy Canada Day to any Canadians who might be lurking. Have a good holiday, eh?
Being July 1, besides Canada Day, free agency starts in the NHL, must go to NHL.com and see who is moving where; and the year is half over. Where the hell did it go?
OK, topic for the day. Purses. On thegoddessesblog.com, someone said you can tell a lot about your heroine's character by what she has in her purse. So lets have a peek in Kyle's purse. It's a small purse, she's at a lawn party in the Virginia Hunt Club, only the necessities are in it. There's car keys (to her new red Mercedes CLK convertible), lipstick, driver's license, credit card, key card to her hotel room, an MP-3 player that is actually an amplification device. Oh and a priceless stolen necklace.
